Stuff

My aunt-in-law hosted a baby shower for Michele and I this weekend, and it was wonderful. Our friends and family were more than generous with gifts and things for our expected baby, and I am very thankful for it. However, I was certainly struck by the sheer amount of stuff that we brought home. Stuff...here's some of my reflections on stuff.

You cannot buy people's love with stuff. Stuff should be given generously with no restrictions or conditions on what you will get for giving stuff.

As North Americans, we have a lot of stuff. We can afford to have a lot of stuff.

Our amount of stuff made our last move very tedious and slow. So many little bits of stuff...

Stuff can be helpful. Stuff can take up space. Stuff can gather dust.

Some people's entire world revolves around stuff. Buying stuff...giving stuff...

As someone once said, "[Stuff] you own will end up owning you."

Some people argue that paleontologists in the future will look at the stuff that we had to try and discern what we were like. These same people argue that a lot of people will be shown to own a lot of the same stuff.

Does my stuff really make me unique?

Could I let go of all of my stuff, if I was asked to?

I don't know. I really like my stuff.
